It’s such a joy to welcome you all back with another exciting addition to our collection of sewing patterns. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to the Marais Knit Dress + Top. This piece is something special, blending both elegance and versatility into one fantastic design.
Take a look at this stunning image below. The Marais is a semi-fitted pullover dress or top featuring front and back V-necks, which I personally adore for its unique twist on the classic scoop-neck silhouette. We've incorporated some cleverly placed seams that not only enhance the fit but also add a touch of visual intrigue. As always, we’ve included cup sizes because I know how much that matters to many of you. I truly believe this style offers endless possibilities for creative expression—whether you're making it as a chic, easy-to-wear dress or opting for the top, which pairs beautifully with everything from casual jeans to tailored blazers.
For fabric choices, we recommend cotton/spandex jersey or lightweight ponte. These materials offer the perfect balance of stretch and structure. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider experimenting with lightweight, drapey woven fabrics like silk. Cutting these on the bias can create a completely different look—just remember to size up at least one step if you go this route! I love how the seams come together at the side seam in an interesting V-shape. It's a subtle detail that adds depth and character to the overall design. If you're into color blocking, this feature could be a fantastic opportunity to experiment with contrasting hues.
The top version of the Marais is incredibly versatile, as shown in these photos where I paired it with our Hollywood Trousers.
