Experiments have shown that such fabrics can be automatically stitched together even after being cut into segments. The researchers sprayed the fragments of the coating material and then applied pressure to the fragments. These pieces quickly formed a whole and were elastic and firm.

In addition, the special coating on the surface of the fabric neutralizes toxic chemicals due to the addition of enzyme substances. In the experimental demonstration, the researchers added urease to the coating, which decomposes urea into ammonia and carbon dioxide, which in turn detoxifies. In addition to urease, other enzymes can be added to the fabric coating to match the target chemical for custom detoxification.
