Of the 20 test samples, 6 were unqualified. Unqualified products are from online shopping.

The test samples were from physical stores (wholesale market, supermarkets, shopping malls) and online stores (Taobao, Tmall, Jingdong Mall), mainly monitoring the risk of formaldehyde in baby carriage textiles.

After inspection, 6 of the 20 samples collected exceeded the formaldehyde content, all from the online store. According to the standard, the formaldehyde content should be ≤20 mg/kg, but the formaldehyde content in the baby carriage textiles purchased in the online store is up to 89 mg/kg, which is 4.5 times higher than the standard.

Usually people may only pay attention to the quality and safety of baby carriages, and ignore the chronic damage caused by textiles in the car to infants and young children. Formaldehyde is a volatile compound that is irritating. A small amount of formaldehyde can cause irritation to human eyes, skin and mucous membranes, and easily cause skin allergic reactions. Excessive formaldehyde can cause severe inflammation of the mucous membranes and respiratory tract, and can also cause dermatitis.

The quality supervision department reminds that the purchase of baby carriages should select the products of regular manufacturers. The products should have relevant information such as the factory name, product name, trademark, manual, and implementation standards. The newly purchased stroller should be placed in a ventilated place for a period of time to remove residual odor. If necessary, remove the baby carriage textile and use it. During use, try to prevent your baby from biting and tearing the textile with your mouth.
